News

During 2025, the State Center partnered with the National Association of Attorneys General in sponsoring two Consumer Protection Regional Trainings. The trainings, hosted by the District of Columbia and Connecticut Attorney General Offices, were attended by Assistant Attorneys General, investigators and consumer complaint analysts from the mid-Atlantic and New England regions and provided education on current issues and best practices. The State Center and NAAG co-sponsored the Northwest Region training in 2024, and a Southwest Region training is planned for 2026.

The State Center and the Princeton Center for Information Technology Policy held the Second Annual Privacy Symposium in St. Paul in September. State attorney general staff (both and technical staff) heard from both legal and technical experts about data privacy and the state laws (both those that have been enacted and those being considered) to protect consumers. The inaugural Privacy Symposium was held in September 2024 in Boulder and was co-sponsored by the Silicon Flatirons Center of the University of Colorado.

In July, 2025, the State Center held its third biennial Antitrust Boot Camp in Chicago. Attendees from thirty-three states heard lectures and discussed cases studies on antitrust law fundamentals, economics, and state and multistate litigation. This program is offered to staff attorneys in state Attorney General offices with less than five year’s experience in antitrust practice.

The State Center’s first Criminal Antitrust Boot Camp was held in Chicago in February 2025. The U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division and the National Association of Attorneys General provided faculty for the boot camp, which was designed to provide training for antitrust enforcers considering criminal enforcement of their state antitrust statutes.

From May 2023 to September 2025, the State Center and the U.S. Department of Agriculture had a partnership known as the Agricultural Competition Partnership (ACP). Through the ACP, the states received funding for agriculture-related litigation expenses, research relating to agricultural markets at all levels, and training programs on the beef industry (February 2024) and the seed industry (October 2024).

Between January and June, 2023, the State Center sponsored a dozen Tech 101 Workshops for State Attorneys General’s offices, all led by Anne Kohlbrenner, a 4th year Ph.D. Computer Science student at Princeton University. The workshops followed a November pilot workshop, created in collaboration with the National Association of Attorneys General and Princeton University’s Center for Information Technology Policy.
